Company Eligibility:
BREIG is available to SME's based in the Yorkshire & Humber region. To be eligible, companies must have some sort of Productive Capability. Primarily, this would be manufacturers, recyclers and possibly distributors. The grants are NOT available to the following sectors:
- Businesses providing local services such as hairdressers
- Retailers
- Primary Steelmakers
- Shipbuilding
- Synthetic Fibre Manufacturers
- Banking or Insurance
- Quarrying/ Mining
- Fishery & Aquaculture
- Primary production, processing and marketing of agriculture products
- Coal
- Provision of local social welfare facilities e.g. hospitals, nursing homes, fire stations, childminding facilities, sports facilities, public libraries and parks
Application Qualification Criteria:
We are keen to see you get maximum return from your investment in terms of bottom line savings and reduced waste, energy and water usage. Applications will also be assessed for “value for money”.
To get the best level of grant available, you will need to:
- Calculate and demonstrate the savings that will be made when the project has been implemented;
- For capital projects, demonstrate you are sourcing equipment at the most competitive prices.
The below table gives a ball-park indication of the level of savings applicants will need to demonstrate in order to qualify for a BREIG grant. Each application will be assessed on its own merits.
To qualify, your application would need to deliver substantial reductions in one or more of the following environmental outcomes:
Reduce your electricity/ gas/ oil use and save at least 50 tonnes p.a. of greenhouse gas (CO2 equivalent) |
Reduce the amount of hazardous material used |
Reduce the waste you are sending to landfill by at least 50 tonnes p.a. or more |
Reduce your water use by at least 50 tonnes p.a. or more |
